David is currently a Senior Lecturer in Chemical Education and the Director of Students in the School of Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh.
David completed both his MChem and PhD degrees at the University of Edinburgh under the supervision of Dusan Uhrin (MChem) and Paul Lusby (PhD). During this, he spent one year working as an Industrial Development chemist for Johnson Matthey - MacFarlan Smith (Edinburgh) and placements as a visiting researcher at the University of Bologna, Prof. Alberto Credi and the University of Leipzig, Prof. Kirsten Zeitler. In 2016, he moved to the University of Manchester to work with Prof. David Leigh on molecular knots, links and woven materials and was promoted to Lecturer in 2021. In 2022, David followed his passion for teaching and returned to the University of Edinburgh to take took up the position of Lecturer in Chemical Education.
