To cap off a busy month of conferences, the group attended the 54th Universities of Scotland Inorganic Chemistry (USIC) Conference, held at the University of Edinburgh. Heather was a member of the organising committee this year and was very happy that the two days of very interesting talks, including Prof. Ludmilla Steier, Dr. David James from Thermofisher Scientific and a careers panel also featuring Prof. Gill Reid (RSC), Dr. Ross Gordon (of Johnson Matthey and formally of UoE!) and Dr. Alan Wiles (ScotChem) all went extremely well.

Congratulations to the new Dr. Edmund Morris on passing his PhD viva today! We are all delighted for him and had a great time celebrating. We wish Edmund the best of luck starting his Post Doc with Prof. Pulham and Prof. Campopiano, although he is remaining in the office so we don't have to say goodbye just yet luckily.

Prof. Morrison, Prof. Pulham and the Morrison and Pulham groups returned today from the Energetic Materials Gordon Research Conference in Maine, USA. All group members presented posters, and Monica and Heather also gave talks. Shout out to Harvey for getting a first place ribbon for his seminar poster! The group had a week of very interesting talks and poster sessions, as well as a great opportunity for making new connections with institutions across the USA and the world. It was also great to catch up with previous Morrison group member, Dr. Adam Michalchuk, and listen to his interesting talk.

Today, members of the Morrison and Love groups were lucky enough to go on a trip to Dundee to meet with Professor Sandra Wilson, Emeritus Professor of ecological metal design at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design (part of the University of Dundee). We were able to have a tour of the college and see some of the amazing jewellery and art that can be made from precious metals reclaimed by processes researched in the group, as well as have a go at electroforming and casting. Here are some of the wax models that we made to be cast in recycled copper!
