Milan born and grew up in India. During his PhD with Dr Sakya S Sen from CSIR-NCL Pune, he explored the chemistry of hypersilylsilylene and catalytic applications with main group compounds. In October 2021, Milan joined as PDRA to the Ingleson, Thomas, and Cowley groups at the University of Edinburgh. Currently, he is working on the aluminium and zinc-catalysed C-H borylations.

Justyna was born in Warsaw, Poland. In 2017 she arrived in Edinburgh, where she obtained her MChem degree from the University of Edinburgh upon completing an industrial placement at Lubrizol during her final year. As part of the Fuels Group, her research project focused on designing an optimised synthetic route to quaternary ammonium salts used as diesel fuel additives. Justyna returned to Edinburgh in September 2022 to join the Ingleson group. She is now investigating electrophile-catalysed aliphatic C-H borylation.

Emily, originally from East Yorkshire, obtained her MSci from the University of Birmingham in 2022. Her final year research project took place within the Preece group and involved the development of novel triphenoxazoles for use within OLEDs. During her time at Birmingham she also became the school's outreach officer, setting up and running multiple projects including ‘Meet the Chemists’ and the ‘ChemBAM library tour’. Emily has now joined both the Ingleson and Zysman-Colman groups, where she hopes to generate boron-containing deep LUMO compounds.

Shantaram graduated from the University of Pune, Maharashtra, India and completed his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai, India in 2017. Before starting his Ph.D., he worked in various chemical companies for five years. He started as a post-doctoral researcher at Sungkyunkwon University (SKKU), Suwon, in August 2017 working with Prof. Jun Yeob Lee, where his research focused on the design and organic synthesis of highly efficient thermally activated delayed fluorescent (TADF) emitters for their OLED applications. In November 2022, Shantaram joined as a PDRA at the University of Edinburgh to work with Prof. Michael Ingleson in collaboration with Prof. Zysman-Colman. His current research focuses on electrophilic borylation to generate highly efficient blue to NIR MR-TADF emitters for OLED applications.

Anna was born in Cologne, Germany and obtained her MChem at the University of Frankfurt. During her final year, she spent 10 weeks in Edinburgh as a visiting research student in the Ingleson group, where she investigated borylation directed borylation of anilines using pyrazaboles. Upon returning to Germany, she focused on time-resolved, spectroscopic characterisation of two novel retinal proteins for her master’s thesis under supervision of Prof. Josef Wachtveitl. Anna has since come back to Edinburgh for her PhD, where she is currently working on diborylation of anilines and the development of boron-containing deep LUMO materials, funded by the EPSRC (Boron: Beyond the reagent grant).

Ian grew up in Rhode Island, USA and joined the Ingleson group as a final year MChem student at the University of Edinburgh. He has a background in transition metal chemistry, previously working on many short term summer projects. He has now working on catalysed aryl germylation for his final year project."

Miriana was born in Italy and completed her Master’s Degree from University of Milan. Her research and thesis concerned the development of new strategies for total synthesis and functionalisation of pyridines. She joined the Ingleson group in University of Edinburgh as a Postgraduate Student for her Erasmus Traineeship period, to study and contribute to the diborylation reactions project.

Laura obtained her Master's degree with a year abroad (USA) from the University of Leicester in 2019. She stayed in Leicester to do a PhD in the Pulis group, developing borane catalysis for the synthesis of amines. During this time, she also carried out a short placement in the Slootweg group (UvA) investigating frustrated radical pairs. In 2024, Laura joined the Ingleson group as a PDRA looking at fluorination strategies using boron-based Lewis acids.

Mathew was born in Sheffield, England, and obtained his MChem degree from the University of Sheffield in 2020, with a final year project on energetic linkers from MOFs with Dr Peter Portius. He then moved to the University of York to study for a PhD in the group of Prof. Andrew Weller, working on developing rapid transition metal catalysts for production of the boron-nitrogen based polymers polyaminoboranes. In 2025 Mathew joined the group of Prof. Mike Ingleson at the University of Edinburgh to work on boron containing OLED emitters.
