Dr Chris Coxon profile

Chris Coxon is a Senior Lecturer in Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh, where he leads the Coxon Lab. His research interests lie at the interface of peptide chemistry, chemical biology, and translational science, with a particular focus on developing peptide‑based strategies to modulate challenging biological targets. He is also the Co-Founder and Co-Director of Pepmotec Ltd – a peptide synthesis start-up. 

Chris trained as a medicinal chemist, completing his undergraduate and PhD degrees at Newcastle University and the Northern Institute for Cancer Research before completing postdoctoral positions in chemical biology and then peptide synthesis at Durham University. He started his independent academic career at Liverpool John Moores University, moving to Heriot-Watt University before joining the University of Edinburgh in 2021.

He has experience spanning academic research and translational projects, including collaborations with industrial and clinical partners. His work aims to bridge fundamental molecular design with real‑world applications in healthcare.
