Welcome to the Coxon Lab

The Coxon Lab is a research group in the School of Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh, working at the interface of peptide chemistry, chemical biology, and translational science. Our research focuses on the design and application of peptide‑based molecules to probe and modulate biological systems, with a particular interest in neurological and neurodegenerative disease‑relevant targets.

Our Lab combines synthetic organic chemistry, biophysical characterisation, and computational approaches to develop new molecular tools and therapeutic strategies. A key aim of the lab is to translate fundamental chemical insight into practical applications in healthcare, working closely with academic, clinical, and industrial partners.

Research at a glance

Our work spans several interconnected areas:

  • Design and synthesis of peptides and peptidomimetics
  • Design of fluorinated tools for chemical biology
  • Translational chemical biology and diagnostics
