Sustainability

The University of Edinburgh has been recognised for its leadership on environmental and social impact, placing 7th in the world in the 2025 QS World University Rankings for Sustainability. The University has also committed to become zero carbon by 2040.

As a School we are taking active steps to ensure that our behaviours and practices are sustainable from social, economic, and environmental perspectives. We consider our impact not only within the School environment, but within our broader community of Edinburgh and the UK, as well as globally within the wider context of the climate crisis. We are committed to conducting teaching and research as sustainably as possible.
