Summer Research Internships

Summer internships offer a great opportunity to gain experience in a research environment, allowing students to grow in confidence and strengthen their career prospects in the process.

Each summer the School of Chemistry hosts a number of research internships, with funding from both internal and external sources. These are primarily open to our 3rd year undergraduate students, however the RSC Missing Elements funded internship is open to UK & ROI based UG students also.

School of Chemistry Scholarships

The school supports both internal and external funding sources for our summer internships. We are delighted to partner with Afton Chemical and offer a number of fully funded internships based within research groups in the School of Chemistry. This scheme is intended for undergraduate students in their 3rd year, with projects running in the summer between their 3rd and 4th years.

Further information and application guidance can be found on the Chemistry Internship SharePoint (Login required - for UoE staff and students).

RSC Missing Elements Grant

The school successfully secured funding to address the themes of the RSC Missing Elements Report, with one sub-project offering funded summer research internships to UG chemistry students in the UK and ROI. These are open to full time undergraduate students in the latter years of a chemistry degree in the UK, e.g., second year of a 3 year degree, third year of a 4 or 5 year degree, fourth year of a 5 year degree.
