Analysis of Whisky Leads to Poster Prize

Second prize in the last 4 months for PhD student

Congratulation to Will Kew, a 3rd year PhD student in the Uhrin group, who has been awarded the Best Presentation Prize for his talk "Whiskyomics: Advanced spectroscopic, spectrometric and chemometric characterisation of Scotch Whisky" at the 2017 Worldwide Distilled Spirits Conference held in Glasgow 29th May - 1st June.

 2017 Worldwide Distilled Spirits Conference

This follows on Will's success at the 5th Annual Practical Applications of NMR in Industry Conference (PANIC 2017) in February this year held in South Carolina USA, where he was awarded the Best Poster Prize with his poster: "Scotch Whisky as Interrogated by Advanced Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and Chemometrics".

Those of us attending the RSE sponsored Whisky tasting event earlier this year hosted by Will, are not at all surprised by his winning streak. Well done Will, keep going!
