Continued Support for Horrocks Group

Donation received to aid research

The Horrocks Group are once again extremely grateful for a donation made by Dr. Jim Love to support their research into neurodegenerative diseases. His previous gift helped to fund a single-molecule microscope that is currently being used to look at protein "clumps" that are formed in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. His second gift will be used to continue this important work, and will allow Owen Kantelberg, a second year Ph.D. student in the Horrocks Lab, to present his work at the International Motor Neurone Disease conference later this year.

Dr. Jim Love worked in the School of Chemistry under the supervision of Dr. Percival in the area of Carbohydrate Chemistry and received his Ph.D. in 1963. He then spent over 33 years with Dow Chemical in the USA, and retired in 1998 as Global Director of Discovery Process Research, Formulation Science and Technology in Agriculture.
