Molecular movies in the spotlight The 2015 “Molecular Movie” article in the journal Phys. Rev. Lett. by scientists at Brown University, Stanford and University of Edinburgh has been highlighted by the US Department of Energy (DOE) as one of the main scientific breakthroughs to come out of a National Laboratory over the past 75 years. The 2015 article presents a new method to study the motion of atoms during a chemical reaction using ultrafast X-ray lasers, with the analysis of the experimental results performed by the group of Dr Adam Kirrander in Edinburgh.
