Meadows Festival

Discussing chemistry out in the open

A small team of dedicated public engagement scholars and PhD volunteers spent a lovely Sunday afternoon in the local park as a part of the hugely popular Meadows Festival on the 3rd of June. Under the university banner, our team had the chance to share their love for chemistry with visitors from all ages.

Children had an unforgettable hands-on experience of the bizarre properties of non-Newtonian fluids and building molecules with our colourful molecular modelling kits, while adults simply enjoyed discussing science (at the same time also trying to get their hands inside the pool of the non-Newtonian fluid).
