Outstanding Support Staff Award

EUSA award for School of Chemistry staff member

Congratulations to Dr Jean O'Donoghue who has won this year's EUSA Outstanding Support Staff Award. Jean is a project manager for the OPTIMA Centre for Doctoral Training and also our Equality and Diversity Coordinator.

The award recognises those staff who help studies run smoothly by doing some of the following:

  • Providing efficient administration so that students can enroll smoothly in tutorials, see their marks online in a timely manner, and have any administrative questions answered
  • Offering useful information, technical support, or helpful additional information about events or activities that may be interesting or beneficial for students
  • Pointing students in the right direction when they need help

I am surprised and delighted to receive this award and would like to thank all the students who nominated me. Each student goes on a completely unique journey during their PhD with its own challenges and rewards. With the backing of OPTIMA and the School of Chemistry, I have tried to provide our students with individual support to make their journey with us the best one possible.
