Selfie Competition Joint Winners Announced

Hoodie pictures prove impossible to separate

To celebrate the launch of the new School of Chemistry branded hoodies a selfie competition was launched on twitter to highlight the new hoodies around key Edinburgh ‘landmarks’.

Over 240 staff and students ordered the new Chemistry hoodies and zoodies in 10 different colours, making the School of Chemistry one of the best-represented and most colourful Schools in the city.

Entries came from all around the city including BBQs on the beach, up Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh Castle as well as from up climbing walls, at National Museums, favourite football grounds and some closer to home around the School itself, showcasing what amazing options are on our doorstep.

Helen O’Connor ‘Edinburgh Airport Sign’

Up for grabs was the prize of a 3 course tasting menu for two people at the critically acclaimed Gardener’s Cottage on Royal Terrace Gardens plus a year’s membership of the RSC.

Judging the competition was Chemistry Head of School, Professor Colin Pulham and Director of Professional Services Alison Richardson. In the end the judges narrowed it down to two photos and could not split them, so awarded joint first place.

And the winners are:

  • Sarah McManus for her ‘Triplet’ photo on top of Arthur’s Seat
  • Helen O’Connor for her ‘Edinburgh Airport Sign’ photo (right)

We really enjoyed seeing the entries for the School selfie competition and we were impressed with both the inventiveness and creativity on display.

Congrats to Sarah and Helen on their winning photos and in the end we couldn’t separate them. We hope that you both enjoy your lovely meals out and the RSC membership

Both Sarah and Helen will receive a 3 course tasting menu for two people at the Gardener’s Cottage and a year’s membership to the RSC. Congratulations to all the competition entries.
