Edinburgh Teaching Award

School postgraduate student completes Category 2 award

Congratulations to School of Chemistry PGR student Ahmad Alsaleh who completed the Edinburgh Teaching Award Category 2, leading to Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. This is a significant achievement for a postgraduate demonstrator and reflects Ahmad’s extensive work in teaching in our undergraduate laboratories.

Ahmad has done a lot of work in supporting our teaching of kinetics, designing interactive resources to complement experimental work, focussed on teasing out student difficulties in kinetics and helping them relate the theory better to the experiment. Ahmad is a photochemist completing his PhD in the Jones group.

Ahmad is one our fantastic team of postgraduate demonstrators supporting our laboratory teaching. He is a wonderful teacher, who reflects a lot on his practice. The resources he made to support kinetics teaching have been used extensively by our students and have helped immensely. He should be very proud of his award, which is very well deserved!
