Research team led by Professor Campopiano part of successful joint research bid

A new research collaboration led by Professor Dominic Campopiano in the UK is one of 14 new projects recently announced that have been jointly supported by funding bodies in the UK and USA.

The research grant from UKRI is worth over £350,000. Prof. Campopiano's project, entitled "SynBioSphinx: building designer lipid membranes for adaptive resilience to environmental challenges", will investigate using sphingolipids to make self-contained vesicles that could lead to the development of realistic synthetic cells that can be programmed could lead to new healthcare technologies and new ways of replacing environmentally damaging and unsustainable chemical manufacturing methods.
